Finding
Spiritual Comfort at St. Mark's
In
life, at some point, most of us face a time of need.
That time may be short term or it may be more long term.
It may involve health or aging or other personal situations.
For all of us, it certainly comes when life ends for someone we
love. Whatever the situation, there are people and services at St. Mark's to provide support.
Our
clergy are available for special assistance upon request, including
Pastoral Counseling, Care-to-Caregivers (Parenting Parents), and
Grief Recovery. Contact a member of the clergy by calling 225-4203 or by sending an email.
Other
spiritual comforts for those in need include:
Prayer
Lists
In
our daily life, there are times when the prayers of others are
both comforting and beneficial. In support of this, we have
three different prayer lists at St. Mark's.
The
first Prayer List comes from a sign-up sheet in the Narthex available
prior to the Sunday services where names may be written in by
parishioners attending either service. These names are then read
at the appropriate time during the service. Generally, these are
names of people with short-term conditions and are read only on
the Sunday that they are submitted.
A
second Prayer List is printed in the weekly service leaflet and
is normally for longer-term situations where the names remain
on the list for some period of time. These names are submitted
to the clergy by members of the Parish.
The
third Prayer List comes from names submitted to the clergy, but
these names are kept confidential. These people are prayed for
daily by the Private Prayer Intercessors.
This is a private list, honoring the wishes of those who do not
wish others to know of their situations.
For
more information on any of these lists, or to become a member
of the Private Prayer Intercessors , please contact the Parish
office at 225-4203.
Parish
Care Guild
If
you or someone you know gets sick, has a new baby, goes to the
hospital, has a death in the family or any other crisis, the Parish
Care Guild is available to provide support. In those difficult
times, this guild provides meals, makes phone calls, sends cards,
offers prayers and gives other assistance to our parish families.
For
this Guild to help, we must first know about your
situation, so please call the church office at 225-4203,
or send
an email if you or another parishioner might benefit
from this ministry.
Lay
Eucharistic Ministers
If
you or someone important to you is prevented by illness or aging
from worshipping with the congregation, you may request a Lay
Eucharistic Minister to come to you to lead a short service.
Lay
Eucharistic Ministers are parishioners who have been trained and
licensed by the bishop to bring Holy Eucharist into homes, hospitals
or group living centers. For further information please
contact the Parish office at 225-4203.
